Ukrainian Community of Queensland Calls for Solidarity on the 1000th Day of the Invasion of Ukraine

Today marks 1000 days since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, a sobering milestone in a conflict that has profoundly impacted countless lives and drawn the world’s attention to the resilience of the Ukrainian people. The Ukrainian Community of Queensland (UCQ) joins the global #StandWithUkraine campaign to honour the courage and sacrifices of those affected and to galvanise international support for Ukraine’s fight for freedom, democracy, and peace.

The campaign, spearheaded by the Ukrainian World Congress, calls on communities worldwide to stand in solidarity with Ukraine on this poignant day. UCQ invites individuals, organisations, and public figures to participate and show their support in meaningful ways:

  • Wear Blue and Yellow: Don the colours of the Ukrainian flag as a visible sign of unity and solidarity.
  • Share on Social Media: Use the hashtag #StandWithUkraine to spread awareness and amplify the voices of Ukrainians around the world.
  • Moment of Silence: Take a moment to reflect on the lives lost and those still enduring the ongoing conflict.
  • Donate: Support trusted organisations providing humanitarian aid, such as the Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

“This milestone is a solemn reminder of the incredible resilience of the Ukrainian people in the face of unimaginable hardship,” said Peter Bongiorni, President of the Ukrainian Community of Queensland. “It is also a call to action for all of us to stand together in support of Ukraine’s right to sovereignty, freedom, and peace.”

The Ukrainian Community of Queensland remains committed to advocating for Ukraine through events, fundraisers, and community engagement. The organisation urges Australians to join this global campaign to demonstrate that Ukraine is not alone and that the values of freedom and justice are worth defending.
