Update on Russian Propaganda Book in BCC Libraries

📚 Update on Russian Propaganda Book in BCC Libraries

We are pleased to share an important update following the concerns raised earlier this week about the Russian propaganda book identified in the Brisbane City Council library system.

Holland Park Ward Councillor Krista Adams has just contacted UCQ President Peter Bongiorni to confirm that:

The book has been immediately withdrawn from circulation and is no longer available for borrowing.
A formal internal review has commenced into how this title passed through the library’s acquisition process.
✅ UCQ will receive the outcome of this review once it is completed in the coming weeks.

🗣 A message from UCQ President, Peter Bongiorni:
“We welcome this swift and decisive action. The safety and wellbeing of Ukrainian refugees, displaced people and Australian Ukrainians in Brisbane must always be a priority, and today’s response reflects that commitment. I want to personally thank the Brisbane City Council, the Lord Mayor and Councillor Adams for acting quickly, respectfully and with genuine care for our community.”

💙💛 We are grateful for this prompt response and will continue to work closely with Council throughout the review process. UCQ will keep the community updated as further information becomes available.

Слава Україні. 💙💛
