WALK MY WAY UKRAINE
We invite you to step out at Walk My Way Ukraine on Saturday 11 May, to provide practical care for displaced Ukrainian children and families and to show them that they are not forgotten.
Walk My Way Ukraine is an initiative of Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS), an overseas aid and development organisation accredited by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). ALWS has been providing aid and support to displaced Ukrainians through our partners, Lutheran World Federation and the Act Alliance, since the war began in February 2022.
The Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc. (UCQ) is proud to partner with ALWS to bring Walk My Way Ukraine to Brisbane.
Through their partners, ALWS has been welcoming Ukrainian refugees in neighbouring countries like Poland, often working through local churches to provide shelter, food, water, job training, language classes and counselling.
In Ukraine, they have rehabilitated schools, converted school basements into bomb shelters so children can return to school and we’ve been rehabilitating apartments in Kharkiv so that families can return home.

The purpose of Walk My Way Ukraine is to raise funds to support this on-going work. To help children safety return to school (build bomb shelters under schools, renovated classrooms), to renovate 1500 apartments in Kharkiv so displaced families can return home and to continue our support for Ukrainian refugees in neighbouring countries (counselling, emergency food and water).
We invite you to join with us at Walk My Way Ukraine on Saturday 11 May. You might like to participate in the 3km or 12.5km walk… or you might like to come and enjoy the community hub at QUT Gardens Point where walkers, supporters and visitors can enjoy Ukrainian food and cultural presentations from members of the Ukrainian Community of Queensland.
