Community grieves tragic death of brave defender of Ukraine: Taras Pona, husband and father of displaced Ukrainian family in Brisbane
The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) and the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc. (UCQ) have been deeply saddened by the news that the husband and father of one of the displaced Ukrainian families living in Brisbane has been tragically killed whilst defending Ukraine.
The AFUO pays tribute to Taras Pona, from Kyiv, Ukraine, who was fighting in the Ukrainian army. The bravery and courage of people like Taras, who leave their families during times of war to defend their country, is deeply respected by the community. Their death is felt with great pain and sorrow.
The AFUO salute Taras as a hero and honour his selflessness and noble defence of Ukraine.
The AFUO extends its deepest sympathy to Taras’ widow, Kateryna, and her two children. Their loss is unimaginable. The AFUO will work together with the UCQ to support Kateryna and her family in any way possible.
The UCQ also extend their deepest sympathies to Kateryna and her family, and offer their condolences at this difficult and tragic time.
The UCQ will work with the family of this brave defender to provide them with the support they need.

Громада глибоко сумує з приводу загибелі хороброго захисника України: Тараса Пона, чоловіка та батька української родини переселенців у Брісбені
Союз Українських Організацій Австралії (СУОА) та Українська Громада Квінсленду (УГК) глибоко засмучені новиною про те, що чоловік і батько однієї з переміщених українських родин, які проживають у Брісбені, загинув, захищаючи Україну.
CУОА вшановує киянина Тараса Пону, який воював в українській армії. Хоробрість і відвага таких людей, як Тарас, які під час війни залишили свої родини, щоб захищати свою країну, викликає глибоку повагу у громади. Їх смерть переживається з великим болем і скорботою.
СУОА вшановує Тараса як героя, його самовідданість і благородство у захисті України.
СУОА висловлює щирі співчуття вдові Тараса Катерині та двом її дітям. Їх втрату неможливо уявити. СУОА працюватиме разом УГК, щоб підтримати Катерину та її родину всіма можливими способами.
УГК також висловлює свої глибокі співчуття Катерині та її родині у цей важкий і трагічний час.
УГК працюватиме з родиною цього відважного захисника, щоб надати їм необхідну підтримку.
